A taste of Luxury

August 23, 2019
When it comes to Gold edible food, it has won my heart, it's love at first sight!

Today, I had the opportunity to go to Matcha Cafe Maiko Seattle located in the heart of downtown Seattle.

Last year, I had the opportunity to eat Gold popcorn from Berco's popcorn in Chicago, illinois. For one of my birthday presents to myself I have been wanting to try this 24 karat gold ice cream I found through research of edible gold foods.

Out of all the ice cream I have tasted this one definitely had a distinct taste. I am not the biggest fan of green tea but it was the aesthetic to try a 24 karat gold ice cream. The ice cream from Matcha Cafe Maiko Seattle is a self-serve ice cream topped with a piece of edible 24 karat gold.

Travel Essentials

Essentials to get you through your flight

Throughout my life I have travelled a lot. Growing up my mother always taught us that it is always better to see it and learn about it than to just read about it in a textbook.  I have been to over 18 countries in counting. I have been blessed to say The United States of America, Australia, Belgium, Brussels, Canada,  France, Germany, Israel, Italy, Mexico, Netherlands, Palestine, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, United Kingdom and Vatican City.

Next destinations on my list: UAE, Santorini (Greece), China, and Turkey.

That being said, flying sometimes it's not always that glamorous especially if your flying economy. So when flying its best to make your trip as comfortable as possible. In this post I have listed some essentials of what to bring when flying internationally or even just flying domestic.

  • Comfy clothes: Whenever flying it's always good to wear comfortable clothes. Its best to fly with stretchable pants and a comfortable shirt. Don't and I mean don't fly in jeans that is just asking to get padded down by security. You shouldn't wear jeans because when your going through the metal detector what do jeans have most? BUTTONS! When wearing jeans a lot of times that gives security a reason to pat you down, that's never fun.
  • Jacket: When flying and at a high altitude it can get really cold especially when you're flying a long distance and the person next to you likes to sleep with the fan on. You can't just tell them to turn off their fan because they are just as entitled as you are to sleep with the fan on. So to be courteous to others it's good to have a sweater or jacket with you to stay warm on the plane.
  • Lunch/Dinner: A couple of years ago many flights provided food on a flight. Nowadays it's only when travelling internationally do you get a meal. Flying domestically you do get the option to pay via credit or debit card for overpriced drinks and snacks but its not something you can eat and feel you had a meal while flying. When I am flying domestically or internationally I like to buy a sandwich for my flight or some type of salad I can eat for lunch or dinner so I am not starving. I usually pick up a subway sandwich and once through security buy a water bottle for my flight.
  • Stay Hydrated: It is always best to stay hydrated when flying. Although, it is inconvenient to keep getting up to use the bathroom. It is always best to stay hydrated. With high altitudes and low cabin humidity this can lower your resistance to cold and germs which will cause fatigue and nausea.
  • Wipes: Most flights provide a small napkin and some peanuts or pretzels. However, if your like me and spill something on accident, having wipes in handy for a spill are essential.
  • Music: Nothing beats a good tune to put you to sleep while on a long flight. Check out my pinterest for different types of playlists to your liking.
  • Toothbrush/Travel pack:  For me taking the red eye is my favorite. I can get on the plane, go to sleep and wake up in my next destination. When I wake up in the morning at my new destination I feel disgusting because I haven't brushed my teeth. Since TSA regulates liquids I usually bring my toothbrush and a pack of toothpaste in a ziplock bag to brush my teeth when I wake up. This helps me stay up to my hygiene and starting fresh at my new destination.
  • Kindle/Book: Who doesn't like a good read? If you're like a Game of Thrones fan like me you can pick up a Game of Thrones book and start reading throughout your flight. Sometimes reading takes time away from focusing on when you're going to get to your destination and get through a book you have been trying to finish.
  • DVD/Laptop: Whether your traveling for work or leisure a laptop or DVD player will allow you to work or just watch a movie to let time pass. Most flights today allow you to buy WiFi on your laptop. What I like about this is that it allows me to use Netflix to watch my favorite movie or two. A DVD player can also make watching movies easier because you have your favorite movies in hand.

So there you have it the ins and outs to my essentials when it comes to travelling. I swear everytime I travel these help me out to get through my anticipated flight.

Have a safe flight beauties...

Blooming Blueberries

August 19, 2019
Blueberries are one of my favorite fruits, when it comes down to fruit in general, I LOVE Blueberries!!!

Since I am focusing on living in a healthy lifestyle this year for my birthday weekend I decided that I would like to go to the blueberry farm in Snohomish County. I was lucky enough to find the Mountainview Blueberry Farm in Snohomish County was having a Blueberries and Sunflower festival this weekend.

When I first found out the news they were having a Blueberry and Sunflower festival this weekend I knew that I had to be there. This is my second time picking blueberries and my second time at a Blueberry Festival. The first thing that came to my mind was that this would be perfect for juicing. Blueberries give my juice in the morning that extra sweet kick that I need in my morning juice to taste better.

When we first arrived to the Mountainview Blueberry Farm a tour guide directed us to the parking lot; which initially was located at a bottom of a dirt road. After finding parking, another tour guide met with us and explained to us that we will need to walk another 25 yards to pick the bigger blueberries. We had the opportunity to choose a bucket ranging from 4 lbs to 25 lbs.

After walking 25 yards with my blueberry bucket in hand, we finally made it. Just seeing the fresh blueberries, they were absolutely magnificent! I have never seen something so lucious and beautiful. They had about 10 rows of Blueberry trees blocked off for tourists to pick their lucious blueberries. Going through the Blueberries you really had to focus on getting the biggest ones. Some of them were not fully ripped so showed up green in color. The real big ones were big and juicy.

The difference between this Blueberry Festival and the one I have been to on the east coast is that the east coast had a whole Blueberry event. With Blueberry pies, and food that you could taste with Blueberry as the main condiment. At the Mountainview Blueberry Farm they just had the Blueberries that you picked to purchase and some honey or syrup to purchase. Although, they didn't have all the festivities it was still a relaxing experience to be able to pick fresh Blueberries that our grocery local store purchases Blueberries from.
